Smiths Falls Ergonomics Consulting

An ergonomist can make specific recommendations on how to better fit the worker into their environment.

Ergonomics is quite simply, the process of fitting the job to the worker. It is for this reason that many people have never understood what ergonomics is, or how it can assist them. This is because most people are expected to fit into their jobs, rather than the other way around.

As every individual (and every worker) is different, they will absorb the forces of their workspace and tasks in a different manner, respond to those stresses differently, fatigue at different rates and recover from injury at variable time frames.

This is where ergonomics comes in. By assessing both the worker as well as the job site and demands, the ergonomist can make specific recommendations on how to better fit the worker into their environment. By doing so, repetitive stresses can be minimized, risk of injury reduced, performance can be optimized and worker productivity increased. Through all of this, it is not uncommon for worker satisfaction to be increased as well.

An ergonomic consultation is helpful for all types of workers and worksites, and can be requested by either the employee or the employer. Whether your job involves administrative duties at a desk, involve heavy lifting to surround repetitive tasks which can lead to injury, a job-site analysis may help to ease the strain of a full days work.
